TEJIDOS REBANCÁ: THE ART OF WEAVING COMMUNITY

REBANCÁ FABRICS: TRADITION REINVENTED

In a small village in Boyacá, nestled among mountains and potato fields, a story of collaboration, heritage, and transformation unfolds .

Tejidos Rebancá was born from the meeting between Silvino, a third-generation wool craftsman, and Francisco, a visual artist trained at the National University and specialized in France.

Together, they decided to combine their knowledge: the ancestral technique of horizontal and vertical looms with a contemporary approach to design.

What began as a ruana—a signature piece of the Colombian highlands—is now expanding into jackets , overcoats , embroidered shirts , and felt corsets .

In her hands, wool takes on new forms, fused with silk, ceramics, quartz and natural dyes that make each piece a unique object .

But Tejidos Rebancá is much more than design. Its strength also lies in its social fabric: more than 44 families from the region are involved in the process, from harvesting and spinning the wool to its final production.

Women like Rosa , Silvino's mother , lead these processes with wisdom and resilience, becoming the silent heart of this solidarity network .

There's a story in every thread. There's a possibility in every stitch.
