MEET THE DESIGNER
TIGRE DE SALÓN
.
Veronica Franco is a designer aligned with our core values. Respectful by nature, honoring her roots by telling us anecdotes that go beyond the crafts. Creating pieces with meaning has always been within her brand's DNA and its clear in the way she works and in the pieces she presents. Much like the work shes done with the ancestral Arawak community, working in a way where cultures are merged while also being honored.

“ We believe in the materials provided by the land like leather, wool and plant fibers”

TIGRE DE SALÓN
.
The brand uses materials with deep respect, honoring their origin, and enhancing their textures and natural colors. There has been a long coexistence between the indigenous people and the sheep of which have benefited each other, the sheep live freely and calm in the middle of the awesome landscape of Santa Marta’s Sierra Nevada. Leather goods is an ancient craft that comes from the primitive human beings who used leather to carry their tools to survive until nowadays making it a part of a tradition in Antioquia, Colombia.
.
.The indigenous communities transmit their energy into the object and materialize their soul in them. For the Arahuacos people the mochila represents the mother earth and the white mochila represents purity and light. All pieces from Tigre de Salon seek to honor the traditional mochila with a twist of sophistication. Made in wool woven by women from the indigenous community and natural leather.

.
Travel to the territory with us and learn the process behind making threads by spinning wool. The fiber is spun by 2 people using a tool made of wood known as "Carrumba". The Carrumba is used to interlace the fibers to make the threads that will be used to weave. This process has its own rhythm that becomes almost like a meditation in the middle of the Sierra Nevada in Santa Marta, Colombia.
.
Throughout time, all the different cultures have expressed their heritage through symbolism and one of them is the SAGA mochila with woven symbols of the Arawak community. Each woman artisan interprets and captures their natural environment in one-of-a-kind representation.
