CORDILLERA

Cordillera is a modern artisan brand based in Bogotá that work side-by-side with the Embera Chamí Indigenous community located in Pereira Colombia. Cordillera is a perfect example of how a collaborative process mixed with design and tradition can result into something new and innovative, respecting and exalting while keeping a balanced trade and interchange.

Chamí means “mountain” and Emberá means “people”.

So the meaning of “Embera Chamí” is People from the mountain.

All pieces are handmade by the Emberá Chamí community in which the act of weaving becomes a ritual. Every symbology plastered in each piece is a representation of their history, culture and their relationship with their environment (mother nature).
